Sonoma Distilling Co.’s Cherrywood Rye is made with a base of 80% Californian rye, 10% Californian wheat and 10% cherrywood smoked barley! That final one is not a common thing to see used in distillation, but it is very much a delicious thing, playing well with the classic spicy rye notes.
Sonoma Country Cherrywood Rye Whiskey Tasting Notes
Nose: Sour cherry and fresh grain mingle with sweet apple candy overtones.
Palate: On the palate, the rye pulls sharply forward, followed swiftly with spice and nuts, pekoe tea, oak and Lyle’s golden syrup.
Finish: The finish is short, with residual allspice, orange peel, wet wood and cloves.
