Distillery Information
Smith Bowman Distillery is the oldest operating distillery in Virginia. The original distillery was built on the 7,200-acre Sunset Hills estate in 1927 when A. Smith Bowman opened a dairy and granary. After the repeal of Prohibition in Virginia, the grains were used for distilling.
