Distillery Information
Trois Rivieres comes from Martinique in the Lesser Antilles. The estate dates back to the 17th century and takes its name from the three rivers around the sugar cane fields: river Oman, the river Bois d’Inde and the river Saint-Pierre. The island is an overseas department of France so it’s a part of the European Union in the Caribbean and has its own rhum agricole AOC (appellation d’origine controlee) rather like Bordeaux or Cognac. It uses only fresh sugar cane juice rather than molasses as is more common in the Caribbean. The distillery produces both rhum blancs as well as cask-aged offerings including some rare vintage releases.
