Description

The grapes for our 211 Max Reserva Carmenere comes from the Max V, VI, and VII vineyards in the Valle de Aconcagua, which has a long dry season with moderately warm summer days cooled by gentle afternoon breezes from the Pacific Ocean. The vineyards are planted on soils of alluvial and colluvial origin with variable percentages of clay and stones, which gives them a loam texture with good drainage and allows the roots good exploratory depth. The vines are trellised to vertical shoot position and drip irrigated. Because Carmenere is a late-ripening variety, canopy management is oriented toward allowing the autumn light to penetrate the foliage and reach the fruit zone to help the grapes ripen and enhance the aromas and flavours characteristic of the variety.
